Long time, no post! Annika is now a VERY busy toddler and doesn't tend to sit still for pictures or perform for the video camera. We'll get a video of her singing one of these days.
Her 18 month stats are the same as her 15 month, 35.5 inches tall and 26 pounds. Apparently she thought that 4 inches in 3 months was enough so she took a little break from growing.
The start of a new school year meant a return to sickness. We really enjoyed our summer free of all of those extra germs. Annika's already had a few bad colds and Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. Thankfully, Grandma Van Dyken flew out to take care of her so I didn't have to take off work. I had a bad cold, too, that made being a mommy really hard for about 3 days. Steve was wonderful and helped out so much!
We also enjoyed a visit with Nana while Steve was gone at a work retreat. Annika was finally feeling better so we went to the pumpkin patch, a hippie Halloween street fair in The Haight, and to the farmer's market down our street. Annika went in a bouncy house for the first time and was fascinated by face-painting.
She is still quite the talker and says almost every word we do now. She's also started saying phrases like, "Ani's blanket" or "Ball, where are you?" She's started recognizing letters as letters but really only knows A so far. She is so much fun and loves to sing like her mommy. Her favorites are ABC's, Bingo, and Wheels on the Bus.
She is going to be a monkey for Halloween since she loves to make the monkey sound. I will definitely post pics.
